This video is about Stephanie & Keith's Story- the reality of life on benefits and the hardship it causes.
Stephanie and Keith have both worked hard all their lives, but disability and illness have excluded them both from the work place. They are solely reliant on the support from their daughter and benefits to get by. Stephanie received a medical bed which meant Keith, who suffers from ME, was forced to sleep on the sofa as they did not have any available funds to purchase an additional spare single bed.
Charity Link were able to help the family with a bed, bedding and a desperately needed washing machine. Charity Link had also supported their son with items necessary so he could start a catering course to fulfill his ambition to become a chef - one that he has succeeded at.
The film demonstrates how small amounts of help by providing basic items can make a massive difference to people's lives, but also what it feels like to be in that situation from the perspective of Stephanie & Keith.
Stephanie and Keith wanted to take part in the film to give back what they could to Charity Link and support their vital work in the community.
A huge thank you to Stephanie and Keith for allowing Charity Link to film their story.
Charity Link support over 5,500 vulnerable people and children each year who are experiencing poverty, hardship and crisis throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We help by providing basic items such as beds, cookers, clothing and, in emergencies, food. These items cost very little but they can make a huge difference to people's lives especially when they have so very little.
