In this episode of Historias y Huellas, I sit down with Sarahi for a conversation about growth, community, using our voices, and expanding what we believe is possible for ourselves. Sarahi reflects on the importance of learning to challenge the ways we may limit ourselves, continuing to grow, and strengthening our capacity to navigate change and pursue new possibilities. We also talk about her passion for public policy and her commitment to closing a gap she continues to see: the distance between communities and the policymakers and lawmakers whose decisions directly affect people's lives. That passion comes to life through projects like Entre Voces y Poder, a documentary exploring immigration policy, community resilience, and collective action in Minnesota. Sarahi shares why creating opportunities for community voices to be heard, and connecting lived experience to the spaces where decisions are made, is so important to her. But for Sarahi, building community is also about joy too. She talks about creating gatherings centered simply on play and human connection, bringing people together at locally owned coffee shops to meet one another, have fun, and support the people and places that make up their communities. It's a conversation about growth, voice, participation, and the many ways we can build community.
