Guest Lecture by Dr. Git Kim Ann

Title: A Child Of Two Worlds Abstract: Radiology has always been at the forefront of technology in medicine - strange bed-fellows that do not always co-exist easily. That relationship has become more obvious in the age of deep neural networks, where AI struggles to find clinical utility 10 years after Geoffrey Hinton's prediction regarding the extinction of radiologists. In this talk, I will introduce the nuts and bolts of the informatics that underpin modern clinical radiology practice - the essential details where the devil resides - and discuss the challenges of introducing AI into this environment from both clinical and informatics perspectives. Biography: Dr Git is a general radiologist with experience in both public and private practice, where she focuses on providing evidence-supported imaging to clinicians, as well as being a certified imaging informatics professional with a passion for workflow improvement. Her passions lie in teaching medical physics, crafting radiology reports, and using JavaScript to code everything. She is a big fan of diversity and inclusion, as well as of old-school Star Trek.
