Preserving Sacred Knowledge in the Age of Modern Distortions | Class 83 | The Mathnawi Masterclass

In this lecture, Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Saeed Khan sahib welcomes student delegations visiting Al-Nadwa for research and draws their attention to its rare and valuable library archives. These include complete historical collections of journals such as Al-Burhan and Al-Furqan, which offer important insights into the intellectual contributions of figures such as Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi رحمۃ اللہ علیہ. He also highlights the institution’s painstaking efforts to preserve and make classical Islamic scholarship accessible. As an example, he discusses the acquisition of five manuscript copies of Tawaale-Ul-Anwaar (طوالع الأنوار) from the Netherlands, the Haramain, and Turkey. These manuscripts were collected for comparative study and digitization, enabling more than 1,000 pages of this work; regarded as one of the most comprehensive commentaries on Hanafi jurisprudence, to be made freely available online to researchers worldwide. Hazrat Mufti sahib also cautions against the superficial presentation and misrepresentation of traditional Islamic knowledge through modern internet reels and commentary by individuals lacking the necessary scholarly qualifications. He urges students of sacred knowledge to pursue their studies with sincerity/ikhlaas, be prepared to make personal and material sacrifices in the service of knowledge, and remain steadfast in preserving and defending the classical Sunni scholarly tradition.
