My name is Dr Paul Kang'ethe, A Poultry Consultant. Contact me on WhatsApp via: 0768161733 or email: drpaulkangethe@gmail.com Let's share some critical information on brooding. you want to start right, right? Here we go. Of Essence during #broodingchicks : 1. Water - Availed at all times, cool water dosed with a powerful #multivitamin , a #Livertonic and a #Gutrevitalizer. 2. Feed - Good quality mashfeed on paper and in trays. 3. Ventilation - properly done to avoid ammonia accumulation. 4. Temperature - for the first three days maintained at 30°c and then decreased gradually. Observe chick behavior: 1. Pilling, cuddling under heat source - the house is cold. Heat it up. 2. Running away from heat source - the house is now too hot. Cool it down. 3. Evenly distributed - they're comfortable. Don't change anything. #commonsense is crucial: 1. Eyes to see behavior 2. Ears to hear vocalizations 3. Nose to detect ammonia accumulation 4. Feel to do crop fill test - the crop should be full and soft within 48 hours after placement. ❌ Too hard - the chick hasn't had access to water ❌ Too soft - the chick hasn't fed To access water and feed, the chicks should move beyond 2 metres. This will set you on the path of a successful poultry farming business.
