How to Choose the Right Bow String for a Traditional Bow

Choosing the right bow string for your traditional bow is more important than a lot of people realize. The wrong string can affect how your bow shoots, how quiet it is, how much hand shock you feel, and in some cases, it can even damage the bow. In this video, I go over the most important things you need to know before buying a string for a traditional bow. We talk about Dacron and FastFlight style string materials, the differences between Flemish twist and endless strings, how to determine the correct string length, brace height, strand count, and proper nock fit. I also explain why you should never put a high performance low stretch string on a traditional bow that was not designed to handle it. Some older vintage bows and traditional bows were built specifically for Dacron strings, and using the wrong string can cause serious problems. I'll also show you why I personally prefer Flemish twist strings, how different string materials can change the feel of a bow, and why having a properly prepared spare bow string in your hunting pack can be a lifesaver during bow season.
