Revelation Chapter 18: Babylon Is Fallen — The Judgment of the World’s System

In this message, Pastor David Fitzgerald teaches through Revelation chapter 18, where the focus shifts from the character of Babylon to her final judgment and destruction. Revelation 18 shows the collapse of a system built upon rebellion against God, materialism, corruption, deception, luxury, and persecution. Pastor David emphasizes that what mankind may call greatness, God may call wickedness, and no system built against God can stand forever. Chapter 18 Revelation_10_11_202… One of the central commands of the chapter is, “Come out of her, my people.” Pastor David explains that believers are called to live in the world without becoming spiritually indistinguishable from it. We are to love people without loving sin, reach the lost without allowing the world to reshape our convictions, and remain grounded in the Word of God. Chapter 18 Revelation_10_11_202… The chapter also exposes the economic power of Babylon. Kings, merchants, sailors, and traders mourn because the system that made them wealthy collapses suddenly. Their grief reveals what they truly valued: profit, luxury, influence, and security. Pastor David repeatedly contrasts that temporary earthly wealth with the eternal security found only in Jesus Christ. Pastor David emphasizes that people are not commodities and that human life has dignity because mankind is created by God. Chapter 18 Revelation_10_11_202… While the earth mourns Babylon’s destruction, heaven is told to rejoice because God has executed righteous judgment. A mighty angel then casts a great millstone into the sea, symbolizing the final and irreversible destruction of Babylon.
