The Storm Bay 45 sits in a very different part of the boating market to many of the high-performance yachts we feature on this channel.
This is not about speed, excess or burning huge amounts of fuel to get from marina to marina. Instead, the Storm Bay 45 focuses on something many boat owners eventually start prioritising: efficient long-range cruising, predictable operating costs and the ability to genuinely live aboard for extended periods of time.
For many self-funded retirees, that balance becomes incredibly important.
In this series, we take a proper look at what makes the Storm Bay 45 such an interesting platform for couples looking to explore the coastline at displacement speeds while remaining comfortable, practical and financially sustainable to own.
We also discuss anchoring, shore access by tender, onboard power solutions, solar possibilities and the realities of long-term cruising on a fixed budget because that’s the part brochures rarely explain properly.
Can cruising actually be affordable?
This might be one of the strongest arguments for displacement boating we’ve tested so far.
Enjoy,
Dan
