This builder starts with ordinary chicken wire and transforms it into a fully functional custom airboat.
What begins as a fragile mesh frame slowly becomes a strong fibreglass hull, shaped with paper, chopped strand mat, resin, and a handmade plywood mould. Step by step, the boat gains a curved floor, bottom strakes, a reinforced transom, internal ribs, and a solid engine mounting structure.
But the build does not stop there. Instead of buying every major part, the builder even hand carves his own wooden propeller from a solid block of hardwood, shaping the blades, drilling the hub, and finishing the wood with varnish before installing it behind a petrol engine.
The final airboat is completed with a belt drive system, rudders, steering linkage, a twist throttle, paintwork, and a full river test. From simple, affordable materials to a working watercraft, this project shows how creativity, patience, and clever craftsmanship can turn almost anything into something that truly works.
Well done to the builder for creating this incredible airboat from scratch.
