1971 Guerciotti Corsa Restoration: Reviving an Italian Racing Legend
In this video, I restore a Guerciotti Corsa — one of the most celebrated models from Italo Guerciotti's brand, founded in the early 1960s. Guerciotti quickly built a reputation for high-quality race bikes favored by both professionals and amateurs, known for elegant, distinctive frame designs and bold color schemes. The Corsa, launched in the 1970s, became a favorite among pro cyclists thanks to its light, aerodynamic frame built for razor-sharp handling and speed.
This particular bike is equipped with a full Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset (Patent '71) — the derailleur that changed cycling history. For over 16 years, Nuovo Record was the undisputed standard in professional road racing, prized for its light weight, rock-solid construction, and precision engineering. Its rear derailleur in particular became more than a component — it was regarded almost as jewelry, a genuine luxury item given its price at the time.
Follow the full restoration process: stripping the frame down, cleaning decades of dirt and grime, and rebuilding the Campagnolo Nuovo Record drivetrain piece by piece using genuine vintage tools from my own tool box.
Most of the bikes I restore are available for purchase on www.DerRecyclist.de
