Eddie Guerrero won the WWE Championship on February 15th, 2004, at the Cow Palace, beating Brock Lesnar in front of eleven thousand people. Twenty-one months later he was found dead on a hotel bathroom floor in Minneapolis at thirty-eight years old. He had been sober for four years. This Eddie Guerrero documentary looks at the dark side of a career that started in El Paso, Texas, as the youngest son of lucha libre legend Gory Guerrero, and ran through AAA in Mexico, ECW, WCW and WWE. We cover Los Gringos Locos and the death of Art Barr, the frog splash he inherited from his partner, the car crash going into 1999, the painkiller addiction that followed, the DUI arrest in November 2001 and the WWE release three days later. We also cover the comeback almost nobody expected: the return to Raw in April 2002, the Latino Heat character, the tag team with Chavo Guerrero, the WWE Championship win over Brock Lesnar and the WrestleMania XX celebration with Chris Benoit. And we look at what the famous I Lie I Cheat I Steal shirt was really saying, why his autobiography Cheating Death Stealing Life was never a story about triumph, and why the WWE Talent Wellness Program was announced one hundred and six days after he died. This is a story about professional wrestling, addiction, the road schedule, and a body that kept billing a man long after he stopped spending.
