The Humble Banana Transforms an Entire Community in Eastern Zimbabwe.

Once these farmers learned to turn their banana crops into commercial enterprises, word spread to their neighbors — and so did the economic benefits. As a result of USAID training, banana production in the area has gone from roughly 2,000 tons in 2011 to more than 27,000 tons in 2017, contributing more than $7.5 million to the rural economy every year.
