Sapphire Sea was danced at “The Golden Jubilee Ball “held by Melbourne Colonial Dancers on 29th June 2024. The Venue was Preston Town Hall, Melbourne, Australia. The dance, “Sapphire Sea was devised by Christine Robb in 2015 The Tune “Tom Kruskal’s” was composed by Emily Troll & Amelia Mason Melbourne Colonial Dancers Band provided the music for the Evening. The Dance Instructions are: Sapphire Sea 32 Bar Longways Duple Proper Original Tune 8 Bars: Circle 4 once around. First Corners turn right Hand (1st man 2nd Lady) 4 Bars: 2nd Corners turn left hand (2nd man 1st lady) 4 Bars: 1’s cast down into the middle of line While 2’s lead up and cast onto the ends All face 2nd woman 8 Bars: Dolphin hey’s 1’s passing right shoulders with 2nd woman From caller’s right R-L m2m1w1w2 4 Bars: Lines lead up a double and fall back 4 Bars: 2’s gate the 1’s up approx. letting go early to both move into next time thru dance
