Liberty DeVitto, Ralphe Armstrong & Rick DeJonge – Impromptu Jam | The Sessions Detroit 2013

Watch a jam come together in real time. Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel's longtime drummer) starts with a groovy solo beat. Detroit bassist Ralphe Armstrong casually joins in, then Rick DeJonge wanders over to the keyboard, and the whole thing takes off. Filmed July 20, 2013 at the Max M. Fisher Music Center (Detroit Symphony Orchestra complex) after "Sticks 'n' Skins: The Sessions," a drummer-focused panel with Bernard Purdie, Dom Famularo, and others. The Sessions was created by Jules Follett, author and photographer of the book Sticks 'n' Skins, to help working musicians with the business side of their careers.
