Over the years, I’ve learned this lifestyle is about much more than beautiful campsites and freedom. It’s adapting constantly, solving problems in real time, dealing with rough weather, breakdowns, uncertainty, and learning how to build a life outside the norm. This channel follows realistic full-time travel, free camping, off-grid living, road trips, and so many outdoor adventures! After 5 years of living on the road, I thought I remembered exactly what solo road life felt like… but this trip reminded me pretty quickly that doing everything alone hits differently when you’ve gotten used to having someone beside you. ******************************************************* ✨About This Video✨ I was warned that getting my tiny camper into this remote Utah campsite might be a bad idea… but after weeks of camping in Colorado’s mountains, I couldn’t pass up a last-minute overlanding adventure! Pike and I leave the cold, rainy weather near Silverton and head to Grand Junction, Colorado, where life on the road means catching up on the less glamorous stuff: laundry, fresh water, recharging my portable power stations, and getting the tires on my Toyota 4Runner rotated and rebalanced before another big drive. This is the side of full-time camper travel that doesn't always make the highlight reel: juggling maintenance, weather, and the logistics of keeping a small RV ready for the next destination. After days of gloomy skies, even a double rainbow on the drive back to the campground feels like a little reward. With the errands finally done, I meet up with friends to caravan into Utah for an unforgettable GME off-road event. And these aren’t your everyday vehicles! Alongside my 1995 Casita travel trailer and 4Runner, we’ve got a 1981 Japanese-import Toyota Land Cruiser and an incredibly rare stretched “Long Cruiser” built for overlanding. Traveling solo has its perks, but sharing the backroads with a convoy of friends is a welcome change. There’s just one problem: the rugged route into camp might be more than my little fiberglass camper can handle. Tight clearances and sketchy stretches force us to turn around and try another way. Will we actually make it to the event? Once we find our spot, the adventure shifts into high gear. The desert campsite is full of amazing 4x4 builds, classic Land Cruisers, and custom off-road rigs, and the next morning we set off on a GPS scavenger hunt. We check out Tomo, a fascinating fire truck imported from Japan, before tackling a hands-on vehicle recovery challenge that calls for winches, teamwork, and clear communication. Then a group of us heads out to explore the spectacular red-rock scenery around Canyonlands National Park, where Utah’s rugged landscape looks like another planet compared with the high alpine country I’ve just left behind. From rough dirt roads with a travel trailer to watching overlanders practice a recovery, it reminds me that off-road adventures are as much about knowing when to change plans as reaching a destination. Back at camp, GME treats everyone to a true Australian-inspired feast prepared by Chef Chad White, featuring crocodile, kangaroo tartare, oysters, lamb, quail, and more. I’m usually a chicken-and-steak kind of girl, so trying new food is an adventure all its own! After a final group breakfast, it’s time to pack up the Casita and get back on the road. Huge thanks to GME, Shauno from 4WD 24/7, Chef Chad White, Trail Feast, the Switchback Supper Club, and everyone who made this unique Utah overlanding experience possible. #TinyCamperLiving #UtahOverlanding #CasitaCamper #Toyota4Runner #OffRoadAdventure 👉 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more RV adventures and solo travel life!
