Why I Made This Off Grid Cabin Less Convenient

What if making something less convenient could actually make it better? After leaving my job in tech, I started thinking a lot about how much of everyday life happens automatically, checking our phones, filling every quiet moment, always being connected. So when creating Samsú, I wanted to experiment with something different. At CúCú, some things are intentionally a little less convenient. Your phone goes into a lockbox. Coffee takes a little longer to make. There’s no TV or Wi-Fi waiting to fill the silence. In this video, I spend some time at the cabin testing those decisions for myself, figuring out which bits of friction actually help us slow down, and which ones might be a step too far. The idea isn’t to make life difficult. It’s to create just enough friction to interrupt the automatic stuff.
