The NEW Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Forbidden & Limited List is here after YCS Paris — and Branded has officially been hit.
Branded in High Spirits is now at 2… but did the banlist actually make Branded WORSE?
In this video, we're breaking down what the new list really means for Branded, how the changing competitive environment affects us, whether Pure Branded should follow the 50–60 card pile trend, and one of the most interesting cards to come off the list:
🔥 MIRAGE OF NIGHTMARE 🔥
I'm testing a new 45-card, high-handtrap Pure Branded build featuring 3 Mirage of Nightmare alongside Favorite HERO Shining Flare Wingman.
The theory is simple:
➡️ Spend your Branded engine establishing the board
➡️ Mirage refills your hand during the opponent's Standby Phase
➡️ Draw into Ash, Ghost Ogre, Veiler, Belle, Droll, and other interaction
➡️ Favorite HERO Shining Flare Wingman draws ANOTHER 2 cards
➡️ Remove Mirage before its discard drawback with cards we're already playing
And Branded has some surprisingly natural ways to do exactly that.
The Fallen & The Virtuous can destroy Mirage.
Ghost Ogre can destroy Mirage in response to its own effect.
Hyperinvoked Aeon can potentially banish it.
And in a Dracotail variant, Dracotail Flame opens up an entirely different Mirage interaction.
Is this just post-banlist experimentation?
Absolutely.
But if Branded can turn Mirage of Nightmare into a repeatable source of opponent-turn handtraps and follow-up, Pure Branded may have just gained a VERY interesting new resource engine.
Let me know below:
Would you play 3 Mirage of Nightmare in Branded?
And did this banlist ultimately HELP or HURT Branded?
