Aberdeen – An Architectural Conservation Area in the Karoo! Ep 160

After we crossed the border between the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape there was still some beautiful gravel road we travelled on before reaching the tar road leading to Aberdeen. We didn’t know that this small town was one of the architectural conservation areas of the Karoo. Driving through the Aberdeen area was like taking a step back into different time zones with all the different architectural designs. From Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau, Gothic Revival and Flemish Revival any traveller would love to see this all. Not to mention where the town is located, the huge Camdeboo plains to the one side and the mountain escarpment on the other.
