What does a 666-inch non-typical moose rack actually look like up close?
In this episode of Antlers From the Vault, Klaus takes a closer look at the SCI World Record Non-Typical Moose.
The bull was harvested in Quebec by Jeremy Boileau in 2011. The rack scores 666 inches SCI, with an impressive 56-inch spread and 20 scorable points per side. This rack blew away the previous record by 80 inches.
But this video is about more than one extraordinary moose.
We had filmed our Johnny King scoring discussion earlier that same day, so Klaus continues the conversation by talking about scoring systems and the challenges that arise when unusual antlers do not fit neatly into the patterns hunters are accustomed to seeing.
It is another reminder that measurements can tell part of a trophy's story, but understanding what is actually growing on the animal can be just as fascinating.
Antlers by Klaus was selected to reproduce this historic rack, and reproductions are available made to order.
