Britain's 1st Grand Prix 1926 - Brooklands Centenary Celebrations

The world's first purpose built race track was constructed at Brooklands in Surrey, England, between 1906 & 1907. Using uncoated concrete due to cost & technicalities, the 30 metre wide 4.5 kilometre banked oval inspired the Indianapolis Motor Speedway which was constructed soon after. Despite the first event on the new circuit being held in June 1907, Brooklands didn't host a Grand Prix until the 1st British Grand Prix on the 7th August 1926. 9 cars started but only 3 finished. A Delarge was 1st & 3rd with a Bugatti 39A driven by Malcolm Campbell in 2nd place.
