Allah says: *﴿قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ﴾* Qul yā ʿibādiya alladhīna asrafū ʿalā anfusihim lā taqnaṭū min raḥmatillāh, innallāha yaghfiru adh-dhunūba jamīʿā, innahu huwa al-Ghafūru ar-Raḥīm. “Say, ˹O Prophet, that Allah says,˺ ‘O My servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls! Do not lose hope in Allah’s mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins. He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’” *Surah Az-Zumar 39:53* And Allah specifically mentions those who repent after major sins, including unlawful sexual relations, saying that whoever repents, believes, and does righteous deeds can have their evil deeds **changed into good deeds**.
