What If Hitler Had Listened to His Generals?
September 24, 1942. Hitler fires the chief of his army's general staff, Franz Halder, for warning him that the plan would fail. Two months later, that plan traps a whole German army at Stalingrad.
After the war, Hitler's surviving generals told the world one simple story: we were professionals, he was an amateur, and we could have won if only he had listened. In this animated documentary we test that story at eight forks: the 1938 plot to arrest Hitler, the Ardennes plan, the halt at Dunkirk, Moscow or Kiev, the winter stand-fast order, the split of 1942, the Stalingrad airlift and the delay at Kursk. At every fork we keep score: who was actually right?
Then we answer two questions. Could Germany have won if Hitler had listened? And who wrote the story we all believe?
