Fundamentals Of Ukemi 2025 (31/03/25) Taken by Aloyseus sensei & Sean sensei In Shinju-Kai Aikido, ukemi (the art of falling) is a crucial element of training, emphasizing both safety and skill development. It's not just about landing gracefully, but also about understanding how to interact with a partner's energy and movements, creating a balanced and harmonious interaction. Ukemi training in Shinju-Kai helps practitioners develop a mind-body connection, improve concentration, and cultivate a more grounded and balanced approach to Aikido practice The responsive aiki feeling between tori and uke also allows a psychological understanding to develop. One will instinctively know if one’s partner is happy, apprehensive, nervous, or not. Aikido develops this and after time, one will be able to gauge the feelings of others outside of the dojo a little more deeply. Finally, a good uke is someone who would use their common sense to simply avoid a life threatening situation. Join Aikido Shinju-Kai Aikidoshinjukai.com.sg
