Another decent Drop Event card has appeared! Mega Garchomp's 190 damage attack gets its point across: with Red it OHKOs plenty of other Mega Evos. Dragon's Blessing Dragonair patches up the 2-Energy discard, too.
The Battle Tasks for this event want KOs from Dragon-types, so I built around the two Immersive Mega Rayquaza ex that I had previously pulled. My deck has the usual Dragon-type deck core you see these days, with Dragon's Blessing Dragonair and Rainbow Cave being a must. Because the Drop Even deck also has Rainbow Cave, I've opted to include only one copy myself.
Mega Ray does most of the attacking, so Giant Capes are a must so that Mega Ray survives one hit from Mega Chomp. Mega Ray cannot afford to take any other damage in the meantime, so I have one of each Dragon-type Altaria for extra bodies in the Active Spot. The one with Dragon Arcana can attack into the Carefree Steps Meowth risk-free and can OHKO Dragonair and Gabite. The one with Fly is there in case I need to play defense. I have one copy of Will to ensure the Fly attack succeeds, and the attack can OHKO Gible and Dratini when my copy of Training Area is active. Lastly, in addition to two Prof. Oaks I have Calem for additional draw power. Even one card drawn from him brings solid results.
For deck adjustments, I'm thinking about adding Red over Will or Calem. The thing is that priming up Mega Ray to five Energy to OHKO Mega Chomp has been easy enough. Sabrina or Repel would also be nice to sidestep Meowth and pick off the dragons. Sabrina lets you ignore Garchomp's Mach Stealth ability, too.
For the non-ex Battle Task, I went with my Vivid Dreams deck from a previous Drop Event video of mine (Vivillon + Bad Dreams Darkrai). The addition of Wally let me add Energy to Vivillon's teammates if I so desired before Vivillon becomes Active. Unfortunately, even a Leaf Cape isn't enough to avoid Mega Chomp's OHKO but it can let me tank a hit from a Garchomp when its Mach Stealth is activated.
For grinding, I've been using Flygon ex. Passive damage to the bench for free Cyrus usage is a lot of fun. I added in Sawk to eliminate Carefree Steps Meowth, Chingling to stifle Rare Candy usage, and Farfetch'd to chip the Basics enough so that Sand Slammer KOs them on their turn.
