OpenBVE - R179 C Train (via K Train Route & Express)

R179 K train, from 168th Street to Chambers Street via express (and following the former K train route). The R179 has been in service on the C train (and also the A, Rockaway Park Shuttle, and J/Z trains) since 2017, replacing the R32 which retired in early 2022, R42 which retired in 2020, as well as displacing the R46 from Pitkin Yard to Coney Island (A & C trains only) Yard with retirement in progress. This is the concept model seen in the renderings while the final design seen today is quite different. While incidents like the cars being separated due to a link bar issue occured with the R179 being known as lemons for a while, those were subsequently resolved by late 2020. The R179 was also one of the last trains to be built by Bombardier along with many others such as the Flexity Outlook streetcars on the TTC and the BR Class 345 "Aventra" on the Elizabeth Line in London, before it ceased operations in 2021 and was aquired by Alstom. For context, the train here follow the exact K train route, which was in service from 1932 to 1987, previously known as the AA train when the IND assigned double letter designations for local services, and ran off peak service when the CC train didn't run. In 1985 it was renamed the K train after double letter designations were eliminated, and discontinued entirely in 1987 after full time C train service was established (except late night hours when it is replaced by the A local train). Previously the K train was used on the Nassau Street/Jamaica Line from 1968 to 1973 (double letter KK designation), and from 1973 to 1976 (single letter K designation). On June 8th, an R32 set made a similar special route run with the K train signage and Knicks decoration. Originally developed by PuertoRican88 and many others, and recreated by WinBal, this train now includes interior lighting and glow in the dark plus changeable headlights; this one is in the Cuomo livery. There may be a continued run towards 168th Street later on, as well as a continued one to Brooklyn later on.
