*First Day* Route W9 acquires its FIRST brand new BYD BD12 Electric London Bus!

Visit the main channel    / @pointarail   Route W9 in Enfield, North London has now had its first electric bus introduced into service as of the 5th September 2026 - BYD BD12 numbered BEL3247 [LF25PGU]. These BYD BD12 battery electric buses are set to be the inevitable replacements for Potters Bar's remaining ADL Enviro200 Dart diesel fleet in the coming years; a follow on from the BD11 operational on Route W8 which replaced PB's oldest double-decker Enviro400 Tridents. As far as I am aware, Route 491 - Waltham Cross to North Middlesex Hospital - was the first Metroline route and route in Enfield to become fully electrified using these brand new buses, and soon it will be the turn of the Route W9 - Chase Farm Hospital to Southgate - to be fully modernised. PB's oldest bus and last 2011 DEM inherited from First Group - DEM1912 [YX61EKR] - is also likely to be the next PB E200 for withdrawal following the milestone from yesterday. Others currently running, the DEM135x or LK62... plates may get transferred elsewhere, though their future is ultimately bleak. It's been a pleasure both spotting and riding these buses throughout the years, and they were a massive influence on me entering this hobby to start with, but I'm also looking forward to the new electrics on the way!
