"It's kind of like the ocean." Wisconsin's Kohler-Andrae State Park features a beach and sand dunes

With more than two miles of beach to explore, Superintendent Molly McKay says Kohler-Andrae State Park's location makes it a popular place. Travis Hammond and his wife, Barbara, were setting up for a day at the beach when we met them. "It's kind of like the ocean, with the waves, and the sand, and the sun. We just wanted to experience a new park and enjoy the day," Barbara Hammond said. Kohler-Andrae State Park features 138 campsites. Just up the hill, a place called Kohler Dunes State Natural Area is billed as the biggest dune complex on the western side of Lake Michigan. Kohler-Andrae State Park welcomes about 650,000 visitors per year.
