Tax Policy & Digital Taxes I PIDE Seminar

The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) hosted a seminar titled “𝐓𝐚𝐱 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐱𝐞𝐬,” featuring Dr. Cristian Lucas, Senior Economist at the World Bank, as the keynote speaker. The session was moderated by Dr. Nadia Hassan, Assistant Professor at PIDE. The seminar explored the evolving challenges of taxation in the digital economy, including the taxation of digital platforms, cross-border services, and emerging technologies. Dr. Lucas highlighted international experiences in digital taxation and emphasized the need for tax systems that balance innovation with fairness and revenue generation.
