Zimbabwe’s Energy Future: US$9.1 Billion in Investment Opportunities | ZIM_EFFA 2026

Zimbabwe is positioning its energy sector for major investment, regional integration and private-sector participation. At the inaugural Zimbabwe Energy Forum for Africa (ZIM_EFFA 2026), Gloria Magombo delivered remarks on behalf of the Honourable Minister of Energy and Power Development under the theme “Investment Opportunities in Zimbabwe’s Energy Transition.” The address highlights Zimbabwe’s ambition to expand generation capacity, modernise transmission and distribution networks, accelerate renewable energy development, expand rural electrification and strengthen regional energy trade. Among the key opportunities highlighted is an estimated US$9.1 billion pipeline of energy projects over the next five years, spanning generation, transmission, distribution, off-grid electrification and clean cooking, with approximately US$4.42 billion expected from the private sector.
