The fourth and final event day of the 2025 NRHS Convention was a visit to Greenfield Village and the Michigan Central Station. At Greenfield Village, we first watched the documentary “Train Time” in their movie theater. After that, convention goers toured around the park and the steam crew arranged some shop tours for us. Hecla & Torch Lake no. 3 was pulling the park trains and Detroit & Lima Northern no. 7 was performing test fires. Later in the afternoon, we left Greenfield Village and headed for the restored Michigan Central Station in Detroit. Unfortunately, I can’t share photos of the interior of the station, due to the Michigan Central Station’s policy. Then the convention would eventually come to a close.
This has been another exciting convention with a variety of activities from steam trains to yard tours to seeing a once vacant historic train station return to its former glory. Stay tuned for the location of next year’s convention.
