This week's Hiking in Colorado adventure took us all the way down south to the Sangre de Cristo range as we make another push to summit another Colorado Centennial 13er. Our target was California Peak (13,849'). This area gave us excellent views of the San Luis Valley, The Crestones, and the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This ended up being an extremely long day at just around 11 miles and 5,000' of vertical elevation gain. It was a great trip and well worth the time. Colorado 13ers -    • Colorado 13ers   The South Ridge of California Peak is a Class 2 route beginning from the Huerfano / Lily Lake Trailhead and is approximately 10.5 miles with 4,500' of elevation gain. In the Winter, it was a great workout and we were presented with beautiful views of the Blanca Group atop this Centennial 13er.
