The Real Reason Horus Turned Against The Emperor

Horus Lupercal was the Emperor's favourite son and Warmaster of the Imperium, so why did he try to kill his father? This Warhammer 40K lore video goes past the cursed knife and the Chaos Gods to the real reason, with the sources on screen. Thirty years as the only son, a father who left at Ullanor without a word, a creed that said there were no gods, Lorgar's forty-year plot, the vision on Davin's moon, the gate on Molech, and the moment in Wolfsbane when Horus was cleansed and still said no. This is Warhammer lore about a fall that was persuaded, not possessed. The Horus Heresy is usually explained with the anathame and a Chaos ritual. The novels tell a darker story: Horus saw through the impostor in the Serpent Lodge and chose rebellion anyway, the Emperor really had bargained with the Dark Gods, and even the Spear of Russ could not turn him back. From Horus Rising and False Gods to The End and the Death, here is the case for why the greatest of the Astartes primarchs fell, lore explained from the codices, the Forge World books and the Black Library novels.
