Woodturning - Proposal ornament (inside out turning)

This is a special kind of Christmas tree decoration. It is used to present the ring for a surprise engagement. I created this using the inside out turning method. Where the inside is shaped first, then separated into segments, inverted and put back on the lathe to shape the outside. It probably makes more sense to watch than explain 🙂 Today's project features wood recycled from a house renovations. The species unknown to me. It was part of the structural framing on an old house. Many pieces include recycled native timber from items such as old furniture, house renovations, building demolitions and the occasional tree.
