Deep in the pitch-black ocean, more than 1,000 meters below the surface, the largest toothed predator on Earth is hunting.
Sperm whales can dive past 2,000 meters and hold their breath for over an hour. They find prey in total darkness using clicks loud enough to be among the loudest sounds made by any animal. Their main target is squid, including the elusive giant squid. Many whales carry scars from those fights.
In this video, we cover:
🐋 How sperm whales use echolocation to "see" in the dark
🦑 Their battles with giant squid in the deep sea
🧠 The biggest brain of any animal, and what it might be used for
🌊 How they survive crushing pressure on extreme dives
👥 The family groups and "clans" that hunt and raise young together
By the end, you'll see why this ocean giant is one of the most impressive hunters on the planet.
