Hidden at the top of an almost abandoned shopping mall in Malacca is Starlight Arcade - a place that feels like stepping back into the 1990s. Before even entering, the outside gives away what makes this arcade special. The glass is covered with a huge *Dancing Stage DDR* decal, a European release of Dance Dance Revolution that looks like it has been there since the late 1990s. Combined with old **Rock Fever**, **Time Crisis**, and arcade artwork, the exterior feels like a preserved piece of arcade history. Inside, the collection is incredible. Along the back wall are around **25+ Daytona USA cabinets**, alongside classic machines including **The House of the Dead**, **Time Crisis**, **Street Fighter**, old Namco motorcycle games, **Percussion Master**, and many other 1990s arcade titles that have almost disappeared from modern arcades. Even the change counter looks like it belongs to another era, with a curved cinema-style design that feels more like a 1950s movie theatre ticket booth than a modern arcade. However, this arcade also shows the difficult reality of preserving old arcade machines. Many cabinets are in poor condition, several machines are broken, and repairs have been carried out with colour-matched duct tape covering damaged plastic and worn parts. There doesn't appear to be regular maintenance on site, making it unclear how much longer this incredible collection can survive. The location itself adds to the atmosphere. To reach Starlight, you walk through a mostly abandoned shopping mall filled with empty stores before discovering this hidden arcade at the top. It feels like a time capsule that is slowly disappearing.
