Faisal Waheed asks Hafiz Naeem a direct question: Is Jamaat-e-Islami considered an Establishment-backed or Establishment-friendly party? Hafiz Naeem strongly reacts to the question and asks why the same question is not asked about PTI.
The conversation gets even more intense when Hafiz Naeem is asked: Who gave MQM its political mandate in Karachi? His answer leads to another tough question: If the Establishment played a role in Karachi politics, why does Jamaat-e-Islami not openly speak against the Establishment?
Hafiz Naeem also says, “Calls keep coming.” What does he mean by these calls? Did the Establishment contact him during the Jamaat-e-Islami Petroleum Levy campaign?
Faisal Waheed also asks about the Petroleum Levy Long March. Jamaat-e-Islami had announced a major campaign against the Petroleum Levy and rising petrol prices. But after a call from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Long March was paused.
Was there any other call? What happened behind the scenes?
What will Jamaat-e-Islami do if the Government does not reduce or end the Petroleum Levy? If JI launches another Long March and the Government creates the same kind of restrictions that were seen during the PTI Islamabad protest, will Jamaat-e-Islami still reach Islamabad?
Another important question is about the political strength of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Jamaat-e-Islami is known as one of the most organised political parties in Pakistan. But why do people still not vote for JI in large numbers? Has Jamaat-e-Islami ever done its own political self-accountability?
Faisal Waheed also asks Hafiz Naeem about the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami experience and whether Jamaat-e-Islami can bring a major political change or revolution in Pakistan.
Hafiz Naeem says Jamaat-e-Islami is not a Shia, Sunni or Deobandi party, but a party for all Pakistanis. Faisal Waheed then asks a simple but difficult question: How many Shia members are currently part of Jamaat-e-Islami?
This interview covers some of the biggest questions in Pakistan politics:
