Welcome to Day 4 of our ultimate Ladakh road trip! In this episode, we journey from the white sand dunes of Nubra Valley to the surreal blue waters of Pangong Tso (14,270 ft) via the raw, adventurous Agham-Shyok route.
We start the morning soaking in the cold desert landscapes of the Hunder Sand Dunes, home to the famous double-humped Bactrian camels. Next, we visit the iconic Diskit Monastery (Diskit Gompa) to witness the towering 106-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha overlooking the vast valley floor.
Then comes the most thrilling leg of the trip: navigating the rugged Shyok River gorge, tackling off-road terrain, and crossing treacherous mountain water crossings (nala crossings) where snowmelt tests both vehicle and driver! We finally conclude the day catching our very first glimpse of the ever-changing shades of Pangong Lake.
