Directed by Nina Bumbálková with an original musical soundtrack by Enrica Sciandrone, the film is written and presented by historian Alex Metcalfe. It is beautifully shot on location around the mountains and coasts of the island itself and gives a lively and vivid exploration of landscape, art, architecture. Drawing on original evidence from the time, it offers a compelling account of power and peoples at the heart of the Mediterranean.
