Catan: Starfarers - Overview

Welcome to Pair Of Dice Paradise's contribution to the Catan: Starfarers Tabletop Showcase event! This video sponsored in part by Catan Studio. Hooray for them making great games and supporting board game content creators! :D As one of Earth’s first Starfarers, you are entrusted with a mission: in addition to founding new colonies, you must also create thriving trade links with the civilizations of the Galactic Council. But that will be no easy task. To construct the materials needed to complete your tasks, resources will need to be harvested from the newly colonized planetary systems that you have founded, and then those resources used to improve the speed and freight capacity of the ships that you construct. You begin your mission with two Colonies and a Space Port, which constructs starships to transport new colonies and trade posts to distant worlds. Throughout the game, these colonies and spaceports will generate the resources you need - when the dice match the numbers of the planets they are adjacent to. These resources are then used to construct colony ships, trade ships, and fleet upgrades such as: freight pods, booster rockets, and cannons. So, upgrade your fleet, but do so wisely, for you are not alone in your race to colonize the habitable planets of the galaxy - some of which you will discover to be covered in ice, while others conceal dangerous surprises, such as The Galactic Confederation of Pirates: lawless members of all the galactic civilizations, who have united together under the black pirate banner. But with strategy - and a bit of luck - no obstacles will stand between you and the stars. Twenty years ago, those who settled the island of Catan first stared into the depths of the galaxy; yearning to discover unknown planets, and explore the limitless universe stretching out before them. Catan: Starfarers is a new version of the game Starfarers of Catan, which was originally released in 1999. This new version contains completely revised graphics and game materials, a revised rule set, and introduces a modular, variable game board that brings even more variety to the exploration of space. So, leave Terra and the known planets behind to explore and colonize the galaxy. Because glory and victory will be won by the brave and astute explorer who best utilizes their resources to expand their colonies, establish trade with the alien civilizations that they will encounter, and bravely repel the galactic pirates lurking beyond the horizon.
