World Lion Day 2026 - Cincinnati and Columbus Zoo

It's that time of year again! World Lion Day, one of my favorite days of the year! So I had to put this together for your enjoyment as we celebrate the Kings and Queens of Africa! This year, my best friends (including ‪@kellthebiologist‬) and I got to visit not one but two great zoos: ‪@cincinnatizoo‬ and ‪@Columbuszoomedia‬! Having already been before, I knew my buddies would be blown away by their African sections. And they were! For me, I was most excited to finally see Cincinnati Zoo's king, John. Seeing him and his queen Imani was so heartwarming. Then going to Columbus the next day to see Roary and his pride in the Heart of Africa was a true highlight. By visiting your local AZA zoo like Cincinnati and Columbus, you can help African Lions in the wild. Visiting the zoo helps groups like ‪@EwasoLions‬, When you help protect lions, you protect everyone, human and animals alike. And so, you are helping protect the Circle of Life.
