#food #foodprices #challenge How much can ₦10,000 buy in a Nigerian market in 2026? And how much does it really cost to cook a good pot of Nigerian stew? Come with me to Akinyele Market as I check the current prices of tomatoes, pepper, onions, bawa and tatashe and ask market women how they would divide ₦10,000 to buy these important stew ingredients. One of the market women also shares valuable tips about different types of tomatoes, how to choose the best tomatoes, and natural ways to preserve tomatoes so they last longer. I also check the price of fresh corn, before heading to a restaurant inside the market to enjoy one of my favourite African delicacies — amala, gbegiri and ewedu with ponmo, shaki and goat meat (ogufe). After the meal, I grab a cold 7UP to cool down. On my way home, I come across a woman selling fresh wara (fresh cow milk) and decide to end the market adventure with some. This video is especially for anyone living alone, newly married, raising a family, sending money home, or trying to manage a salary and make their money go further.
