This is a playthrough using SF2 Dhalsim in the Saturn version of Street Fighter Alpha 2. Read on for more information...
SF2 Dhalsim is a hidden character in the game. He is a hidden playable character.
===== HOW TO SELECT SF2 DHALSIM =====
On the character select screen, do the following:
Highlight Dhalsim and press and hold [START], and press Left, Down, Right, Up. You will end up back on Dhalsim, now just press any attack button to select SF2 Dhalsim. (remember to keep [START] held down at all times)
Alternatively, it can also be done this way: Highlight Dhalsim, press [START] once, and press Left, Down, Right, Up. You will end up back on Dhalsim, now hold [START] and press any attack button to select SF2 Dhalsim.
Once you've "unlocked" him by using either of the above methods, he can then be accessed on the Versus Mode character select screen by highlighting Dhalsim, holding [START] and pressing any attack button to select.
===== ABOUT SF2 DHALSIM =====
He is an alternative version of the regular Dhalsim, based on his SF2:CE appearance. He cannot do the following things: Taunt, Tech Throws, Escape Rolls, Alpha Counters, Mid-Air Blocking, Custom Combos and Super Combos.
He also cannot perform short range (non-stretch limbs) basics when far away from the opponent either (basically holding Back and pressing P or K as regular Dhalsim). However some players will prefer it this way. On the upside, his Yoga Fire projectile travels all the way across the arena and won't fizzle out unlike regular Dhalsim's one.
===== ADDITIONAL INFORMATION =====
---- He has automatic close-up short limb basics, something the regular Dhalsim doesn't have.
---- He is the only character in the game to have unique close-up basics.
---- He is programmed into the game as a separate character with his own slot.
---- SF2 Dhalsim does not appear anywhere as a CPU opponent in the game.
---- His personal final boss in the game is M.Bison.
---- He probably doesn't have a hidden mid-boss. This is because technically it's not possible for him to get his mid-boss as he cannot do custom combos nor super combos, meaning that he cannot have any CC or SC finishes.
---- Even though he is technically a separate/'different' character in the game's data, he has regular Dhalsim's routes, quotes, interaction dialogues and ending.
---- He does not have a pre-fight intro.
---- He does not have a super gauge.
---- His set of colour palettes are different to regular Dhalsim's ones.
---- Sakura's stage BGM is different (better in my view) than the one she has in the PS1 version of the game.
---- The game is known as Street Fighter Zero 2 in Japan.
===== ABOUT SATURN SFA2 =====
In the days of the PS1 and Saturn era, this was considered to be the best port of the game and the closest to the Arcade version. Excluding the loading times (which are faster than the PS1 version), the Saturn port still suffers from animations frames being cut out for certain characters like Zangief and Gen, and specific sound effects being muffled. These elements are rectified when you play mirror matches, because that way the VRAM and Audio RAM are freed up by having to store only one character's data, meaning that the free memory can be used for the full animation frames and clearer sound effects.
Additionally, the Saturn version of the game is rather unique, as it is kind of an "in-between" of the arcade USA SFA2 and Japanese SFZ2A. This means that it has the secret characters from arcade USA SFA2, and some play modes from Japanese SFZ2A (which would normally be common console play modes like Survival Mode). This port also allows players to select from all 6 colour palettes for a character regardless of which mode (Manual or Auto) he/she is in - each colour is assigned to each of the 6 attack buttons.
