Veterans’ July 4th Celebration Almost Didn’t Happen

Our 7th Annual July 4th Celebration at the Southeastern Veterans’ Center almost didn’t happen. At the facility’s request, we moved the show to July 3rd so staff could safely bring residents outside. With temperatures at 99 degrees, we shortened the program and set up later in the evening. A nearby storm then dropped the heat and humidity just in time—without ever reaching us. Residents enjoyed music, treats, and time with family and friends, and the show was a huge hit. This short highlight video captures the night. Thank you to our volunteer crew, every donor, and the SEVC staff and leadership who made it possible. And thank you to the residents and their families for letting us be part of your evening. Your smiles are why we do this every year. This tradition began during COVID and has grown because of people like you. In America’s 250th year, it meant even more to honor those who served.
