Victor Shlyakhtenko plays Maurice Ravel: Jeux d'eau

Maurice Ravel: Jeux d’eau Performed live by Victor Shlyakhtenko From the Narrative Musicale "Bach To The Future" Grand Piano Series at Artis—Naples July 18, 2024 | Ubben Event Space, Naples, Florida Piano: Fazioli F228 Experience the shimmering, cascading brilliance of Maurice Ravel's Jeux d’eau (1901), one of the most evocative works in the piano repertoire. Victor Shlyakhtenko brings fluid virtuosity and poetic sensitivity to this impressionistic masterpiece, evoking sprays of water, flowing brooks, and sparkling fountains through rapid figurations, whole-tone scales, and luminous harmonies. In the Narrative Musicale curated by Konstantin Soukhovetski, Ravel's "liquid poetry" serves as a futuristic echo of Bach's contrapuntal legacy—bridging Baroque structure to 20th-century color and innovation. This performance captures the piece's "très doux" delicacy and dazzling cascades with exceptional clarity and touch. Victor Shlyakhtenko (b. 2002), a Lang Lang International Music Foundation Young Scholar and acclaimed young virtuoso from Los Angeles, delivers an enchanting interpretation in this live excerpt from the Grand Piano Series collaboration with Artis—Naples.
