Counting for 28 Legislative Council seats is underway across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka, but the process has been accompanied by controversy in Patna and Gorakhpur. In Patna, a bundle of files being carried out of the counting centre triggered an argument, with people demanding to inspect the documents. An Election Commission official later clarified that the files contained presiding officers’ diaries, not Form 16 as alleged. In Gorakhpur, an independent candidate raised concerns after a ballot box from Deoria district was found with its seal broken. The box was reportedly set aside, and the district administration intervened. These incidents come amid earlier allegations of irregularities during polling, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav questioning the Election Commission’s response. Here’s what happened in Patna and Gorakhpur as counting continues. The copyright ownership in the video rests with India Today Group.
