Formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia back in 1969, the band built their reputation on a rare triple-guitar attack — Myles Goodwyn, Gary Moffet, and Brian Greenway trading riffs and leads — backed by Steve Lang on bass and Jerry Mercer on drums. This 16-song set delivers everything that made April Wine one of hard rock's most underrated acts — the blues-shuffle swagger of "Big City Girls," the anthemic "Sign of the Gypsy Queen," fan favorite "Just Between You and Me," and of course the explosive title track "I Like to Rock," complete with a drum solo. Critics have compared their sound to a mix of Thin Lizzy's dual-guitar harmonies and Foghat's driving blues-rock — but heard live, April Wine were entirely their own beast. Take a trip back to the golden days of the 80s and 90s — a time of neon lights, cassette tapes, boomboxes on shoulders, and music that felt bigger than life itself. This was the era when pop, rock, dance, and R&B ruled the airwaves, MTV was king, and every song felt like a memory in the making. 📼 Remember when music meant something? When you'd wait by the radio for your favorite song, tape it on a mixtape, and play it until the cassette wore out? That's the spirit we're bringing back here. 🎸 PLAYBACK AVENUE is your rewind button to the 80s and 90s — the greatest hits, rare live concerts, deep cuts, and forgotten gems from the golden era of pop, rock, dance, and R&B.
