Greg Cosell Sees It on Tape: 49ers D-Line Are Wrecking Offenses

The 49ers’ defense was supposed to be a question mark, and then it went out and made a Monday Night Football statement. Greg Cosell of NFL Films joins the show to break down what he saw on film. That includes whether Fred Warner is playing too aggressively, how Raheem Morris is messing with quarterbacks, and why this defensive line is playing way better than anyone expected. Cosell says Warner is the best linebacker in the league and doesn’t see a problem with how he hits. He explains how Raheem Morris changes the picture before and after the snap, and why the stunts gave Washington’s offensive line fits. He also covers the rotation of interior linemen, what happens when Nick Bosa gets back, and how the Niners can defend Bijan Robinson and the Falcons’ outside zone run game this week. He also looks at what Jayden Daniels and Washington did in the second half, and why injuries forced the Niners into lineups they didn’t want. Topics discussed include: Was Fred Warner leading with the helmet, and did the Monday night broadcast overreact? How Raheem Morris disguises fronts and coverages Why the 49ers’ stunts worked so well against Washington How the Niners handled life without Dre Greenlaw The interior D-line rotation and the depth behind it Why Nick Bosa’s return could make this unit even scarier Whether the new scheme can stop Bijan Robinson and the outside zone run game What went wrong in the second half and what Atlanta can learn from it Do you think this D-line can keep it up once the Falcons come to town?
