Elvis and Priscilla's marriage was far darker than the fairytale wedding photos suggest. Their 1967 Las Vegas wedding was staged almost entirely by one man: Colonel Tom Parker, the manager who wasn't a colonel, wasn't named Tom Parker, and wasn't even American.
Parker kept Priscilla hidden at Graceland for four years, chose the date, hotel and press conference for their eight-minute wedding at the Aladdin, and took up to half of everything Elvis earned. In this video we follow the real story of Elvis, Priscilla and the Colonel. It runs from Germany and Graceland to the 1973 divorce, and on to the court investigation after Elvis's death that exposed Parker's contracts and put Priscilla on the other side of the table. We also cover the fight over Sofia Coppola's Priscilla movie between Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley.
Sources: Priscilla Presley's memoirs "Elvis and Me" (1985) and "Softly, As I Leave You" (2025), the 1980 court-ordered report on Parker's management, contemporary reporting and biographies. Contested claims are clearly flagged.
