THE FINISHING GRACE | A Prayer Charge The finishing grace is a prayer for the grace to finish the race set before us, obtain the prize, and fulfil everything God has ordained for us to accomplish in this earthly pilgrimage. It is a cry for divine enablement to run with endurance, remain faithful to our calling, maximise the purpose for which we have been preserved on the earth, and stand complete in Christ at His appearing. It is not enough to begin the journey of faith; we must also receive grace to continue steadfastly, refusing to draw back, backslide, or fall away from the faith. As Scripture warns us through the example of Demas, who forsook Paul because he loved this present world (2 Timothy 4:10), a beginning in the faith does not remove the need for perseverance. We must guard our hearts, remain rooted in Christ, and continue in the faith until the end. This prayer charge is therefore a petition for the grace to finish our course with joy, fulfil our God-given assignments, and preserve our faith until the coming of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. May nothing entrusted to us be left unfulfilled, and may we not only run, but run lawfully; not only labour, but labour faithfully; and not only begin, but finish well and obtain the incorruptible crown.
