Deep inside Olympic National Park lies a temperate rainforest home to a record-breaking collection of champion trees, known to locals as the Valley of the Rainforest Giants. On this solo trek through the Quinault Rainforest, I am navigating the lush, ancient trails to find the largest Sitka Spruce in the entire world. You are right there with me as I crane my neck to look up at these ancient wood titans, surrounded by towering walls of vibrant green moss and massive ferns that make this entire ecosystem look like a scene out of a prehistoric era. It is a completely raw, unfiltered, and deeply humbling look at the sheer scale of the Pacific Northwest wilderness.
